There is so much Tokyo can offer and it's hard to fit all in just 3 days. Using this simple Tokyo Map, I divided Tokyo into West, Middle and East. Time saving and I can see more of Tokyo in short trip. GOALS for this trip; Cherry Blossom hunting, Foodies, Mt Fuji Sight seeing and shopping.
West side
are around Shinjuku, Meiji Shrine, Meguro River, Harajuku and Shibuya. Middle are around
Roppongi, Tokyo Tower, Zojoji Temple, Imperial Palace and East Garden. East
side are Asakusa, Sensoji, Sky Tree, Ueno and Akihabara.

Day 2 NRT Airport Shinjuku-Shinjuku Gyoen-Meguro River
Landed at
Narita Airport around 0730 hrs at level 1F, walked through immigration process and
collected my luggage for about 30 minutes. Collected my KLOOK voucher for 72hrs
pass at HIS counter which located at the right side of the arrival exit. Very
long queue at HIS counter, waiting for about 30 minutes.
Around
0900hrs, walked to JR East Office to buy Narita Express ticket located at
Basement Floor using elevator. Bought a return ticket NRT- Shinjuku for 4000JPY.
One way ticket cost around 3000 JPY, saves around 2000 by buying a return
ticket. NRT-Shinjuku using N’EX took around 1 hour 30 minutes, stopped at few
major ‘stops’ eg Tokyo, Shibuya, Shinjuku.
Inside NEX, you can eat , relax in this Fast Train, 1 hour 30 mins to Shinjuku. |
Came out
at Shinjuku, a bit loss because of so many people. I just look for EAST Exit , which will bring me to
Kabukicho side. As I found EAST Exit which is located at Lumine Est Shopping,
just walked out from the Lumine Est building toward Kabukicho area for about
500 mtres to reach my hotel , Citadine Central Shinjuku. It was quite easy to
find.
Managed
to reach the hotel around 11 something and still quite early for room check in.
I just used the washroom at the lobby to dress up for my walk.
Citadine Central Shinjuku, Lobby at Level 3. Lawson Mart at Ground Floor |
15
minutes walk from Citadine to Shinjuku Gyoen National Park. Very crowded,
Cherry Blossoms full bloom. Super long queue to get ticket, which cost 500 JPY.

Well- Spent
1-2 hours in the park. It was so beautiful and
relaxing. If you want to come to Tokyo, it will be great during the Cherry
Blossom season.Every year it is around end of March to middle of April, the
cherry blossom reach full bloom starting from the southern part to the northern
part, where Hokkaido will have full bloom cherry blossom later in the month.
LUNCH
Coming
out form the park, it was almost 1pm, On the way back to the hotel, I stopped
at a ramen shop in Shinjuku area called ‘Max ramen’.
My first
attempt to vending machine ramen. Order from the machine, you can choose the
broth richness, noodle or add on spring
onion or egg.

Day 3 Shinjuku – Oshino Hakkai –Shikido
Matcha- Gotemba Peace Park-Gotemba Premium Outlet
Konbini Breakfast from Lawson Mart (300-500 JPY) |
Sunrise in Tokyo was quite early around 0530 hrs, today will be a day trip on Bus to Oshino Hakkai- matcha
experience and Gotemba Outlet. The package was bought through KLOOK online for
RM 226. Meeting point for the tour was at Prince Hotel Shinjuku, which was
about 300 mtres from my hotel. Shinjuku to Oshino Hakkai journey was around 2 hours. Oshino Hokkai is a small village, where Fuji san or Mount Fuji can be seen. It was a cold day and quite cloudy. The Fuji-San was not very clear on that day.

We was at
Oshino Hakkai for about 2 hours before leaving to Shikido for Matcha
experience. Matcha or green tea is good anti-oxidant and in Japanese it has
other cultural values. Preparing, holding the cup and drinking it should be in a proper manner.

on the bus tour are Gotemba Peace Park before going to Gotemba Premium Outlet
for 2 hours of shopping.. Definitely it’s a rush. Just managed to get something
from Polo Ralph Lauren outlet, GAP and and quick browse to Coach, MK. It is
quite a huge outlet with more than 200 brands. In bright day, Fujisan should
able to be seen from this outlet.
Heading back to Shinjuku after the shopping, the trip was around 1 hour 30 minutes. Walk around Shinjuku and Kabukicho before heading for Shabu shabu buffet dinner.

Day 4 Imperial Palace-East
Garden-Asakusa-Sumida River-Ueno
To fully utilize my Metro Card, today I started my Journey toward the east side of
Tokyo. Stated with Imperial Palace and East garden. I Arrived at the garden
very early and the gate was still closed. I only managed to take photos around
outside the east Garden and along the road,
Walking around
outside the East Garden for about half and hour before going to Asakusa area for
Sensoji Temple and Sumida River.
Taking metro
from East Garden to Asakusa. Before starting my tour around Asakusa, I had
quick breakfast at Matsuya at Asakusa. Famous and affordable chain restaurant
in Japan.
Rice with Beef and Miso Soup |
Entrance Of Sensoji Shrine |
Sensoji
Shrine is the oldest shrine in Japan. Rows of souvenirs at the entrance to
Sensoji Shrine. Beautiful Cherry blossoms also seen around the Sensoji temple.
I found this place is very packed with tourists. Many souvenirs shop selling
Japanese gifts ie fridge magnet, hand fan, kimonos , T shirts.
Souvenirs shop toward the shrine |
Sensoji Shrine |
About 200 meters from Sensoji Shrine is the Sumida River. Where it is one of the cherry blossom spot along the river. From where also can see Tokyo Sky Tree across the river.
